Over the past week, we’ve heard and saw a lot about the rumored HTC M9. Images showed a handset with a similar design language as the HTC One M8, sporting a larger, more squared off camera sensor. This was believed to be the upcoming HTC One M9, until some more rumors have now surfaced claiming that those images were leaked to throw us off the trail. This could have easily been done by HTC to prevent what happened last year the the One M8, when the actual device was leaked in a video before the official release.
The new rumors suggest that the Boomsound speakers would be less obtrusive and more resemble those on the Nexus 9 with the edge-mounted design. They also stated the front facing camera would be at the center like that of the HTC Desire series, but we haven’t had any picture proof to work with…until now.
The image below was made public by @evleaks on Twitter, who has a solid reputation when coming to leaks of HTC device. We finally get a clear view of what the real device could possibly look like with this new design language. It basically builds upon the design of the HTC One M8, without keeping too much of the same look which results in a new experience for all the potential buyers who might be interested in getting the M9.
What’s even more interesting, is that this is also the first real glimpse of what could be the M9’s bigger brother, the M9 Plus/Hima Ultra. The bigger brother shows what can be a fingerprint sensor at the bottom which begs to ask the question, will we have to give up the fingerprint sensor if we choose one or the other based on size preference?
On the smaller device, it looks like the HTC logo takes the place of the fingerprint sensor, which can be both a good and bad thing. Good, as in it removes the useless black bar from the screen, but it also eliminates the fingerprint sensor. However, the larger device still sports the black HTC bar. At least it looks smaller and less obtrusive as the bar on the HTC One M8.
What do you think? Did HTC have us fooled with the previous leaks while keeping the real thing private all along? Can this possibly be the real HTC One M9 leaked?
