Google has stated in an official post, that the Official Android Lollipop update was released. We have all been waiting patiently for this ever since we saw the Android L developer preview images.
However, there has been no news about which specific models and regions will be receiving the update first, so we are still waiting. For me, personally, I live in Trinidad and Tobago and the update has not arrived yet. In the initial update season, Google Play Edition devices will also get the update.
Android 5.0 Lollipop brings a entirely new and revamped look called material design that is based on ensuring all tasks come from somewhere, and goes back to where it came from when you’re done. This gives the entire OS a sense of hierarchy, while adding a premium feel to the entire user experience. It also brings new features and improvements like Project Volta, Security Improvements and even Multiple User accounts.
Motorola, Samsung, LG and Sony all have plans to upgrade their devices to Lollipop. However, the time frame as well as which specific devices are getting the update are unsure for some.
Hopefully the Lollipop update will come soon, as a lot of us have been waiting patiently since the first developer preview was released a while back. On the other hand, if you’re a proud new owner of the all new Nexus 6 or Nexus 9, you are probably enjoying Android 5.0 Lollipop while everyone else is waiting.
