The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were released back in September, 2014. Hardly six months after the release, here we are again with iPhone 6S leaks and rumors. There’s no telling if the name will follow the “S” trend since “iPhone 6 Plus S” can be a mouthful, so maybe we’ll see a new naming structure, or maybe we won’t. Due to the significant level of changes we might see with the next iPhone, if Apple simply calls it the “iPhone 7”, I won’t be suprised.
Surely, we can expect Apple to follow what they did in 2014 and give us two device sizes. The iPhone 6 Plus was very successful and showed that many Apple users are interested in a larger Apple device and in addition, it even converted some users who stuck with Android just because they had the option of larger smartphones.
The iPhone 6 was an entirely redesigned product in the iPhone line last year, and seeing that we are due for an “S” upgrade this year, we can expect almost the same design and a lot more under-the-hood changes. The screen sizes should remain at 4.7 and 5.5 inches seeing as there won’t be any design changes, and rumors of a smaller 4 inch iPhone have been put to rest. However, we can’t be sure of anything right now.
In terms of exterior upgrades, rumors of new color options have been floating around (pink/rose gold), and we’ve also been hearing of Apple’s thoughts of going with the same 7000 series aluminum used on the Apple Watch for the next iPhone since it’s more durable and just as lightweight.
With the previous “S” upgrades, we received features like camera improvements, Touch ID, Siri and more. With the upcoming iPhone in 2015, we can expect to see upgrades along these lines and according to rumors we can also look forward to a faster A9 Processor, 12-Megapixel Camera, 2GB Ram, Additional Microphone for enhancing voice call quality, a new internal design to improve the structural rigidity of the devices (goodbye #bendgate), and the new Force Touch functionality.
So, of course all of these leaks and rumors may or may not show up with the release of the new iPhone so we can’t give a definite list of expectations. However, one thing we can say is that the next iPhone will surely be an upgrade to the current gen if these rumors are true.
