One of the most anticipated devices among all tech fans is the annual announcement of the Nexus line of devices and we were all a bit disappointed when we didn’t see any Nexus hardware at Google I/O 2015. However, just like 2014, the Nexus devices will be announced separate from Google I/O. A Nexus device from both Huawei as well as LG is expected this year, with the Huawei device being the larger.
We’ve heard and seen some rumors concerning the Huawei device, but none whatsoever concerning the LG device. However, thanks to GizmoChina, we might finally have something to work with!
According to the aforementioned company, this year’s LG-made Nexus device will be sporting a 5.2 inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 display, the yet unannounced Snapdragon 620 processor breathing life into it along with 4GB RAM and up to 64GB Internal Memory.A 3180mAh non-removable battery is expected to be powering the entire package and we are also expecting to see the full works in terms of connectivity (802.11ac Wifi, NFC, Bluetooth, Wireless Charging).
Also mentioned, is a 13MP Rear Facing Camera with a 6-element f/1.8 aperture lens, OIS, laser autofocus, and a dual-tone LED flash, a 4-megapixel front-facing camera with an RGB-IR sensor and Iris Detection, and a USB Type-C connector with QuickCharge 2.0. Along with this, according to the report at the aforementioned company, we can also expect Front Facing Stereo Speakers and a Rear Power Button with an Integrated Fingerprint Sensor.
The biggest change the LG Nexus 5 2015 can see, in my opinion, is the expected aluminum build with chamfered edges. While the back cover is expected to be made of plastic, this will be the first aluminum made LG Nexus device if everything goes according to this leaked report. Pricing is said to be around $300-$400 USD, which is typical Nexus pricing that we are used to.
With this spec sheet and the new build materials, I think this can be a pretty solid device and one of the top devices in 2015!
