You may have realized after upgrading to KitKat or getting a KitKat device, your lockscreen widgets no longer appear. This isn’t because they are non-existent, in fact they stll exist normally and if you had a specific setup on 4.3 before updating, that setup might still be there but just turned off. This is due to lockscreen widgets being disabled by default as a security concern. So how do we fix this lockscreen widgets missing problem and turn them back on?
Head to Settings>Security>Widgets and then hit “Enable”. Now your precious widgets are back on your lockscreen for your convenience!
The reason this was disabled by default as a “security concern” is because depending on the widget you have, personal information can be seen by anyone with your phone in their view. For example you may have an email widget on the front and that might show personal information or private contacts which can be seen by just about anyone who has your phone.
So, enjoy having your lockscreen widgets again, but be cautious of the content that you use them for in regards to privacy.
